“Awake to breathe, Breathe to merge into light.
Stand to confront with own shadow,
like to hear the sound from tranquil mirror.”
“Shadow Fugue” is Light-Sound apparatus which is responsive with state of own body’s physical tension and change of light. Like Breathing, the winding and loosing wires, which are fastened between motors and wall, let tighten and loosen plexiglass rods. Through its movement when these plexiglass rods are bended to the wall and touch with surface of wall, the bright ray of light and at an instant black stripe of shadow are emerging - it depends on where it is observed.
The emerging light phenomenon by this various kinetic movement reminds the observer of organic and symptomatic gesture. It needs the self-regulation process as the movement is measured real-time by infrared light sensors. The sound is moving after the rotation of motors and own thread of sounds are weaved by tension. Like 4 voice of Fugue it is real-time generated by breathing of “Shadow Fugue”.
In this work the shadow is not the place where the light is unreached but the interface where the light starts to travel again.
